Living Waters Wesleyan Church | Tamatea, Napier

Part-Time Senior/Lead Minister

Living Waters Wesleyan Church is seeking a visionary, relational leader to serve as our part-time Senior/Lead Minister. We are a growing, intercultural congregation dedicated to our mission: "Empowering People to Meet, Know and Serve Jesus Christ."

Role Overview

  • Employment Type: Part-time, approximately 18 hours per week (6 blocks).

  • Primary Focus: Spiritual leadership, leadership training, discipleship, and the development of youth and young adults into leadership and ministry throughout the church.

  • Intercultural Mission: Bridging the gap between the aging, established "Other" congregation members and the younger, newer Fijian families and youth.

  •

Core Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Discipleship: Implement formal discipleship programs (e.g., Alpha) and develop one-on-one mentoring.

  • Training: Provide training and oversight for our 12 lay preachers and other ministry leaders to maximize the use of people’s talents.

  • Worship & Preaching: Oversee service planning and determine preaching rosters; there is no expectation that the minister will preach every Sunday.

  • Pastoral Care: Organise and carry out pastoral visiting as part of the Ministry Team.

  • Youth Integration: Foster structured involvement for youth and young adults in both ministries and church leadership roles.

  • Administration: Oversee church governance and receive reports from the Health and Safety Officer.

  • Character: A strong call to ministry and a deep commitment to "Prayer above all things."

  • Skills: Proven ability in leadership, delegation, and enabling others to use their abilities.

  • Growth Mindset: A desire to see growth in all areas of church life and a willingness to explore accommodation alternatives, such as church planting, as attendance grows.
